Every day at sunset the songs of fishing crews can be heard in the hills above Lake Kivu. As night falls over the lake, white hot flames are what lure the elusive sambaza fish to the surface. Fishing with Fire is an ethnographic short documentary about the communal life and customs of fishing cooperatives in the Rwandan town of Gisenyi. Through the daily rituals of the young men and women who work on the boats we learn of healing and reconciliation in Rwandan society 24-years post genocide.
